Welcome From the Principal
September 2025
Dear Families,
Welcome to all our new and returning Lakeside PS families! We hope you all had a safe, healthy, and enjoyable summer. Our dedicated staff has been hard at work getting the school ready, and we’re thrilled to welcome everyone back for another exciting year of learning and growth.
We want to give a special shout-out to our caretaking team, who worked tirelessly throughout the summer to ensure our learning spaces are sparkling clean and in good repair. Their commitment creates a comfortable and safe environment where students and staff can thrive. We truly appreciate their dedication to learning and well-being at Lakeside PS!
Our classroom staff (teachers and support staff) also deserve a huge thank you. They have been busy preparing welcoming learning spaces and establishing effective routines from day one. Their efforts are key to a smooth and successful start for all students.
We also recognize our office staff, who spent the summer ensuring all operational tasks are completed and our school is ready to receive students. Their expertise and diligence in managing administrative tasks are essential for our school's readiness. Please don’t hesitate to contact the office with any questions; they are always here to help and guide our community.
We deeply value our partnership with families. We know that family involvement has a significant positive influence on student success and learning. We welcome you to get involved! Please contact your child’s teacher or the school office to learn about volunteer opportunities at Lakeside PS. We look forward to connecting with you in the months ahead.
Stay Connected
There are many ways to stay connected with what’s happening in our school:
Lakeside Lightning Digest: Our primary communication tool, this document is emailed directly to families. We will send a detailed issue on the first Friday of each month, followed by one-page updates each subsequent Friday of the month. A hard copy is available upon request.
Classroom Communication: Teachers and support staff will share classroom and extra-curricular information through a classroom newsletter, EDSBY, or email.
School Website: Visit our new website for up-to-date information about events and key dates.
School Office: Our staff are available to meet by appointment. Please contact the office if you need any information or support.
Family Dashboard: Access the Family Dashboard at family.yrdsb.ca for one-stop access to various applications.
We wish you all a happy, safe, and successful school year!
Sincerely,
Chris Johnstone, Principal Vanessa Armstrong, Vice Principal
